Appreciate your interest in the Vets2Trails therapeutic mountain bike initiative!

Semper Fi Fund donated nearly $10k worth of bikes, gear, and equipment to help us get this effort up and running. In the year since, over 30 recovering service members have participated in the program. We ride mostly at the Balboa/Florida Canyon Trail system next to Medical Center San Diego. If you want to volunteer or ride with us, please drop me a line at justin.s.campbell.phd@gmail.com!

On August 09, 2014, I realized a life dream when I rode in the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race to raise funds for Semper Fi Fund, in part to repay SFF for their generosity, but also to raise awareness for Vets2Trails and the role that mountain biking or hiking can play in self-guided recovery from the hidden wounds of war. Thanks to everyone who donated to that effort.

Just recently, sometime between the 20th and 24th of March, someone stole 4 of the 5 bikes that Semper Fi Fund had donated to Vets2Trails. While very upset, I am also going to work to make sure that we not only replinish the bikes, but get our own storage and security system so that this never happens again and we are able to travel throughout the San Diego region and also start holding rides close to Camp Pendelton on a monthly basis. Ok, let's see if I can make it happen!

Thank you!

Very respectfully, Justin

Barbara Murphy donated $100.00 in honor of Daniel Murphy
"I have Grandson who lost part of both legs in Afghanistan, have special empathy for veterans"
Justin Campbell
Justin Campbell - Barbara, your family has already given so much, your donation is a real honor to our program. I hope Daniel is adapting and overcoming his wounds. Some off-road bikes for leg amputees are being developed, but I know road-bikes, skiing, and surfing options are out there. If Daniel wanted to engage with the Team Semper Fi or Team America's Fund athletic programs, please e-mail me and I will try to start the process of linking him with one of the SFF/America's Fund case managers. Thank yo

Justin Campbell - John, it was great to finish up the work week and see some more donations this morning; honestly, even if it was just $1, the fact that people have rallied to our program gives me energy to keep going and get back on our feet. Thanks!

"God Bless you. I can't believe that someone would be so callous and cowardly to steal the bikes."
Justin Campbell
Justin Campbell - Diane, thank you for the kind donation and blessing. Pretty stunned myself that the bikes were taken from a base installation. I just hope it was not another service member or veteran. Thank you!

"Wounded veterans. Also, I'm disgusted that this heinous crime occurred in my hometown."
Justin Campbell
Justin Campbell - Daniel, San Diego is an amazing city and cares a great deal for veterans and active duty. This was tough though, still can not believe someone could make off with that many bikes while going un-noticed. Just transporting 4 of the bikes has pushed my vehicle and packing skills to the limit:) Thank you for your kind donation Sir.

"I am so appreciative for your service to our country and am sickened by the stolen bicycle."
Justin Campbell
Justin Campbell - Julie, it really is an honor to serve. Navy Medicine helped my wife deliver 3 beautiful girls who are now 5 mos. old and healthy. The care we received, provided by American Tax payers, makes us appreciative of you too. America: the best country on earth (even when your bikes are stolen:)!
