We are sisters/brothers, sons/daughters, nieces/nephews, cousins and mothers, of Marines. We are proud Americans who feel immense pride for not only the Norton Marines, but for all service men, women and families that sacrifice so much in order to keep America safe. This is our small way of giving back, saying thank you and “we will always remember”.
In 2012, Team "Norton, zoo and circus" is honored to be raising money as Community Athletes for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. We will be embarking on a true bucket list item of running the 37th addition of the Marine Corp Marathon, through the multiple monuments of our great Nations Capital, this October. We will be surrounded by those actively protecting our country and the fallen heroes, who for generations have given their lives for our freedom. The emotion of the experience is something truly remarkable and life altering-- recognizing that the 26.2 mile journey is about shared sacrifice..."Some gave all, all gave some."
Our goal is to raise $3000.00 and to promote the continuing needs of our injured Service members. We need your help to reach our goal! Any amount you can give will help; no donation is too small. The need to assist our injured and critically ill service members continues to be great. If your company matches fundraising, or if there is anyone you know who could help, please forward this along.
By contributing to our campaign you will help many service members when they need it the most. Established in May 2004, the Semper Fi Fund’s mission is to provide financial assistance and quality of life solutions to the brave men and women who have been injured in combat or training, or who have a life threatening illness. Assistance is also given to their families so that they can be at the bedside of their loved one during a Service Member’s rehabilitation and recovery. The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured members of U.S. Armed Forces injured in post-9/11 combat or training and their families. They direct urgently needed resources to Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force or Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces.
The streamlined structure keeps overhead very low – less than $.06/$1 on average. The American Institute of Philanthropy has given them “A+” rating and Charity Navigator has given them their “Four Star” rating, the highest rating for each organization.
Assistance covers the immediate financial needs of service members and perpetuating needs, such as modified transportation, home modifications and specialized equipment. Establishing this fund in 2004, they’ve issued more than 25,000 grants totaling more than $50 million to thousands of our heroes and their families. Thank you in advance for your support and for joining team "Norton, zoo and circus in “Serving Those Who Preserve Our Freedom.”
Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance." -Bruce Barton
"Each Warrior wants to leave the mark of his will, his signature, on important acts he touches. This is not the voice of ego but of the human spirit, rising up and declaring that it has something to contribute to the solution of the hardest problems." -Pat Riley
"A commitment is the honoring of a decision. When you are committed, you allow nothing to deter you from reaching your goal. You are disciplined even when you are not feeling motivated. Discipline is the ability to carry out a resolution long after the mood has left you. Making a commitment is being willing to put forth all your efforts and taking responsibility for the outcome" - Mary Kay Ash
