Hello again!  My name is Emily Kiernan and I am the proud sister of a United States Marine.  My older brother, Ben Kiernan, was wounded in September 2010 in Afganistan, fighting to defend our country's freedom.  Ben has been working hard since that day to make a full recovery.  Although he faces the challenges of physical disability, his perserverance, spirit and courage are stronger than ever. Even while Ben was unable to work, he continued to volunteer to help other injured soliders and veterans, even going as far as to have his dog, Belle, trained as a therapy dog!  Ben would stop at nothing to see that others, like him, would not continue to suffer when they returned home from a heroic battle.

As many of you may remember, Ben and I fundraised for the Semper Fi Fund team as a part of the Marine Corps Marathon in 2011. We raised almost $7000 for the fund at that race!  After a very motivated and strongly-supported training regimen, I ran the marathon in 3 hours and 28 minutes, good enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.  Back by popular demand, Ben and I have decided to try and top our fundraising efforts of a year ago and raise $10,000 for the Semper Fi Fund with this race!

I have "officially" began my marathon training regimen this week and I am looking for your support! I will track my progress on www.logarun.com.  Please feel free to follow my progress.  I will also provide frequent updates about my progress as the next four months and our fundraising efforts.

Any amount that you are able to give will help! The financial need to assit our injured Marines continues to grow.  Let's start the New Year off right by helping those who have served to preserve our freedom!

Thanks so much for your support and please don't forget to send this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating!

The Campaign:

Semper Fi Fund Community Athletes Campaign

Welcome to the Semper Fi Fund Community Athletes Campaign! "Support Through Sport"

The Organization:

Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund

The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. We direct urgently needed resources to post 9-11 Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force or Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces. The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) provides relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs.
