Semper Fi Marathon Across Antarctica, 9 March 2014, "In Any Clime and Place"

Dear Family and Friends,

As most of you already know, the ship which was going to take us to the Antarctica marathon in 2013 hit an iceberg and was damaged and was not going to be able to leave on schedule. Due to my military obligations I was not going to be able to go to the Antarctica with the new schedule which was going to leave at the end of March 2013. However, I have been re-confirmed for the 2014 race. Please join me once again as I help raise funds and awareness for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.  The climate will be extreme and I will have unique challenges training for the race while stationed in Hawaii but like all good Marines I will adapt and overcome and I am asking for your help once again.

During the past several years in Afghanistan many Marines have sustained life changing injuries and they need our help more than ever. The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (www.SemperFiFund.org) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps America's true heroes recovering from catastrophic injury. No amount is too small or too large to donate and the Semper Fi Fund has VERY low admin and fundraising expenses (~5%) than most charities so more money goes directly to support injured Marines and other service members who serve with Marines and their families. Since the Semper Fi Fund was established in 2004, they've issued more than 64,000 grants totaling more than $83 million to over 10,500 heroes and their families  The American Institute of Philanthropy has given them an “A+” rating and Charity Navigator has given them their “Four Star” rating, the highest rating for each organization.

An important part of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and a part closest to my heart is Team Semper Fi which has a mission of "recovery through sport." Team Semper Fi was established in 2006 by the Semper Fi Fund as an extension of the assistance that the Fund provides to those who are injured in combat and training. The idea for Team Semper Fi was inspired by those wounded Marines and Sailors who refused to let their challenges prevent them from competing in athletic events, and whose drive and determination is inspirational to us all. Team Semper Fi is made up of more than 375 service members and many of them recently competed their first marathon during the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon last Oct and (8) members of Team Semper Fi were selected to represent Team USA in the Paralympics in Sochi.

Thank you for helping to support this great cause. If you know of anybody else who might want to donate I would be extremely grateful if you please forward this link on to them or add this link to your Facebook page. My main goal is I would like to reach at least 239 donors (In honor of the 239 years the USMC has been serving this great nation) so any small donation would be appreciated to help reach this goal. My initial fundraising goal was $17,750 in honor of USMC founding in 1775 but I have recently updated my fundraising goal to $53,250 ($17,750 x 3) since I reached this initial goal. Please consider giving up eating out one time and donating it to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

Bill

The Organization:

Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund

The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. We direct urgently needed resources to post 9-11 Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force or Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces. The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) provides relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs.
